چکیده

Abstract The utilisation of natural energy not only can reduce consumption in buildings but also lower carbon emissions from the use fossil fuel for building services. It is believed that with appropriate design and a good attitude users, role renewable reducing will be maximised. This study proposed implementation Zero Energy Buildings (ZEB) concept initial stage by considering buildings’ form façade relation to daylighting, ventilation thermal buildings, photovoltaic placement save produce electrical designed building. In this study, ZEB Concept treated as secondary consideration producing architectural Biohydrogen Research Centre. primary generator based on philosophy chemical bonds representing biohydrogen bonds. For successful Centre design, both active passive means are utilised design. means, daylighting strategies were applied. While panels employed generation. demand scenarios predicted calculated amount used lighting, air conditioning, other appliances total area needed installation was obtained balancing prediction expected resulting showed promising outcome where achieve surplus 845,595.5 kWh electricity per year.

Net-Zero Energy Building Enhancement for a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Platinum Educational Facility

In the United States, university buildings use 17% of total non-residential building energy per year. According to the NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory), the average lifecycle of a building in a university is 42 years with an EUI (energy use intensity) of 23 kWh/m/y. Current building and energy codes limit the EUI to 16 kWh/m/y for new school buildings; this benchmark can vary dependi...

Toward the design of zero energy buildings (ZEB) in Iran: Climatic study

In this research, a combination of passive and active methods is used to design a nearly zero energy building in four major climatic regions of Iran, including cold, mild, dry-warm, and wet-warm ones. The annual energy consumption analysis is performed using DesignBuilder® software. The passive strategies include Trombe Wall, blue roof, and thermochromic windows, and the active methods are usin...
